About

anna zellAnna Zell, LAc. MAOM from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2002.  I moved to Oregon in 1999 from Minneapolis, MN to study Traditional Chinese Medicine.  I’ve been very happy to escape the winter snows of the midwest. Why did I move to the PNW; to enjoy gardening in zone 8!

People often ask me how I ended up in Chinese Medicine and I have to credit my Mom.  I grew-up on a farm in central Wisconsin and my Mom subscribed to Rodale’s Organic Gardening and Farming and Prevention magazines.  I read them cover to cover, and even though the farm never became organic, those publications had a life-long effect on my choices.

I studied Apparel Design at the University of Minnesota and worked for several companies as a technical designer.  All the while still learning about healthy living and cooking good food.  I began to study yoga, Tai Chi and Reiki energy healing.  I took a life-changing trip to India in 1990 and received my second level Reiki attunement on the banks of the Ganges River.

I was employed at Munsingwear headquarters in Minneapolis, MN.  When they were sold and all design operations moved to Miami, FL, I took the opportunity to make a career leap and learned Anma Shiatsu massage at the Minneapolis Center for Shiatsu Study.  It was there I met my first acupuncturist as an instructor.  Our theoretical base of study was the same Foundations of Chinese Medicine textbook used in acupuncture schools. The transition came naturally from Shiatsu massage into studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and becoming a licensed acupuncturist.
